The Forsyth Classic
The inaugural event of the BBPT.
Buy in: $10, top 2 finishers paid.

Players battled hard for just under 4 hours before Chris was crowned champion of this, the inaugural event of the BBPT.

The two tables involved displayed play styles at opposite ends of the poker spectrum; with table one being loose, bluffy and loud while table two was the tighter table, characterized by silent intensity and patience.

One surprising turn of events occurred when a player, himself no stranger to interesting poker mishaps, asked for a rule clarification with regards to the number of cards required to make a particular poker hand. Said player's "straight" was eventually beaten by his opponent's 2 pair.*

Mike played the tournament with rye and a never-say-die tenacity that allowed him to rally from a near early exit to eventually bust out on the bubble in third place, just missing the money.

Phil and Darren both played strong games and, if cards had fallen differently, could have made an even deeper run in this tournament. Phil nearly eliminated Sean when he raised into Sean on a flop of JJ5. Sean was fortunate to not have the clock called on him by other players at the table during this prolonged hand, which ended with Sean finally folding his pocket Kings, which he later found out to be a fine bullet dodge, as Phil would later reveal that he was holding pocket Aces.

Although heavily and continually criticized by brother Kyle for slow dealing, Danny persevered and played a strong, respectable game that came up just a little short, being eliminated in 4th place.

When the tourney got down to heads up, eliminated players got to enjoy watching bitter rivals Chris and Kyle battle it out for the top spot. Going into heads up, Kyle had already knocked out 3 players, while Chris had also shown two players the door. The match was short lived, however, as the players got all the chips in after only about 5 minutes of play, when Chris reraised Kyle, who would eventually call after some deliberation. Chris would table a Queen 10 and was a slight underdog to Kyle's Ace 5. The match ended when both a Queen and a 10 hit the board, giving Chris 2 pair and the win, as well as bragging rights as the winner of the first ever BBPT event.

The league thanks Jeff for his fine job hosting the event. Jeff's early exit from the tourney is not an accurate indication of his ability, but rather illustrates the difficulty in both hosting in and playing a BBPT event. Also he is easily distracted by the television.

*The league reminds its players to review hand rankings before any upcoming events.
