We are 4 weeks into the season and it’s time to take a quick look at the top teams in the first annual Big Boy Poker Draft. The draft night was intense and many feel that some players were drafted on previous one year ability and not real life ability (aka Bobby). As well some felt a few GMs just randomly picked players because they were left on the board.
Let’s take a look at the standings
The Ryetards lead the group with strong play by Mike and Pete (Pete won his first tourney), Gaige came out of nowhere and went to the final table his first game, Bobby seems to have found his rhythm with 2 back to back final tables. Darren has been somewhat of a disappointment with his play, but that’s what you get for being the last pick on a team. Ryetards have 113 points with Mike missing one game and Gaige not starting until week 4.
In 2nd we have Hurricane Downgraded to a Tropical Storm with Chris B, Kyle and Jay all in striking distance of the top spots on the leader board and leading their team in points. Danny and Dan T seem to be holding the team back with poor performances so far. Experts believe that this could change as Danny does not want to be the Jamarcus Russel of the Big Boy Poker Tour. HDTS currently has 104 points.
Number 3 on the list but number 1 in your hearts is What Would Jesus and Aliens Do. Jeff T has been basically carrying this team all season and his 2nd place finish last week helped out huge. Dan L and Phil have been playing consistent poker and one of these 2 could make it into the top 5 very soon. Bryan and Jeff F have been consistent as well, unfortunately they are consistently not good and have hurt the team for points the last few tourneys. WWJAD currently has 103.5 points.
In 4th place we have Team Discovery Channel but that name may change to Team Self Implosion if the GM doesn’t get out of the basement. Who would have thought that Chris D would be carrying this team on his back and Sean M and Darryl would be basically fighting for last place in the division. Just and FYI, Darryl is in last place right now if we don’t count the 7 points Gaige took at his last tourney. But we have to count it, but we wanted to mention it though. Chris D and Mark are basically the reason this team has points as they sit number 3 and 4 overall. Kevin has only made 2 tourneys but represents over 20% of the teams points. Big things could happen here if these three stay hot. They will need to stay that way as Sean M and Darryl have not truly contributed to the team and are basically water boys at this moment. Team Discovery Channel currently have 100.5 points.
The season is almost halfway done and there is still a lot of poker left. As the saying goes anything can change, but remember anything can stay the same as well.
