Hello there poker fans, this is your favorite poker reporter Cliff “Runner Runner Chaser” McDougal. There is nothing better than looking at the season so far and explain who’s making a run for the title and who’s just showing up to give the good players their chips. Well 2 grams of meth, a hotel room for 3 days and 6 Asian hookers is better, but that’s another story all together.
It is now crunch time and those players trying to make a run for the cup need to make sure they make no mistakes.
Jeff T is two point in the lead but Mike is right on his heels. Chris B, Kyle, Denely (who’s having a great season) and Dan L are only 19 to 21 points away. They need to win now and they need to ensure that Jeff and Mike don’t. I would say feed them a lot of booze, but unfortunately both those player play better half and full snapped. I would suggest knocking them out earlier before the booze sets in and before the cards don’t even matter anymore. If I was to pick a player to make a run for the title it would be Kyle. Only reason I picked him is if I didn’t, I wouldn’t hear the end of it.
The middle of the pack is just that, not good but not that sit either. You have Mark who has been a consistent player this year at the top of this group. Well he’s consistently hammered, but consistent none the less. Pete and Jay have shown signs of greatness in this league, but like their hockey skills they are only signs. Most time are yelling at people and making silly plays that cause them to lose. That’s right Pete, we are looking at you! Darryl and Danny continue to be a huge disappointment this year with a captain and a first over pick. Darryl has shown some life as he won a tourney but all that win did was put him in the middle of the pack. Danny continues to be a disappointment to his brother (in life and in cards). Phil has preferred to keep his streak of life time dealer and that works for the rest of the league. Bobby has started to show why he should have been a last round pick and not a first round. He’s making the final table, but then going down faster than my wife on the mailman, my neighbor and the homeless guy that lives in the alley behind our house.
Then you have the final grouping. These players are basically here for comic relief. The problem is at their expense and they live up to this expectation. At the top of this group you have Bryan whose playing style is compared to a rim job. Pretty gross and you definitely don’t want people to know you do it. Dan T has stopped yelling “Go Fish” every time he wants to check, but he has still been known to yell “UNO!!” when he wins a hand. We asked Sean about his drastic decline this season and he has this to say “when you are involved with the Twitter feed, the Website Updates and the Clock, you have to decide what’s more important”. Here’s the problem the Twitter feed, the Website and the Clock, they have been as bad as his play. The only saving grace is that Sean has the ability to sweat the batman logo on his shirt when playing ping pong.
So yes the season is still up for grabs, but many players are only playing for respect. As a wise poker man once said “respect is all you will have in the morning”.
