“How do you go from first to worst?”

If we were to tell you that by mid-season, last year’s BBPT winner and pied piper would would be sitting in complete opposite places in the standings, you would have probably laughed. But alas, season 5 of the tour has provided us with tragic comedy so compelling, we wish that we could binge-watch every detail on Netflix.

If you believe in superstition, than Adam may have brought this last-place curse on himself. Let us entertain you with a prequel to his championship run:

During Adam’s insane late-season run to win the 2013 season, he made one catastrophic faux-pas: he touched what wasn’t his.

At the time, Kyle warned everyone in the league “to not touch the Cup if they’re not a champion.”

During one event, Adam ended up holding the cup.  When presented with the idea that he had cursed himself, he laughed, and took a swig of the liquid gold that fizzed within. While everyone thought he proved superstition to be a farce, that sacrilegious moment is haunting him right now.

Since Adam’s win, his best place finish has been 7th. The other finishes: we are unable to determine conclusively if he was coherent or present at those tournaments.

It appears the poker gods have had the last laugh, all while reaffirming the golden rule, or should we say: Genesis 3:3
