So here we are.

Half way through season 5 of the BBPT and storylines are unfolding like a lawn chair at softball game on a hot sunny Saturday. As things heat up, you open a cooler and reach to the bottom for the coldest beer you can find: A Sean M lager. It’s refreshing to see one of the leagues most feared competitors sitting in last place — a first in BBPT history. Where his hops once tickled your tongue with a strong performance and a lasting presence. His game has become flat and unchallenging.

We’ve been documenting Sean’s deep descent into utter oblivion. The mind games, #chipgate, and increased gambling addiction that has taken his focus off of the green felt. Don’t believe us?!? Chris D has used this side betting to his advantage to — as he would put it — “dominate” Sean. Taking advantage of Sean like a drunk rummy dancing for change has allowed Chris to have a plethora of jokes at Sean’s expense. Chris has not had to pay for a single buy-in this season and his fantasy football debts have all been taking care of from the action he’s earning off Sean.

The King of Beers
Kyle R’s dominance on the tour continues to roll as he leads the league in most points for the season. Impressive, since Kyle hasn’t won a single tournament thus far. Could Kyle replicate his season 2 performance and stay on top without tournament win? On his heels is newcomer, Chris B who has had 1st and 2nd finishes in his first five tournaments. Can the rookie keep his momentum rolling? It’s uncertain as he hasn’t been able to crack the top 10 in his last two performances.

Chris D might just be happy earning money off of Sean for the rest of the season — no matter how dirty the win is. Sitting at third place, Chris hasn’t cracked a cashout, but has played consistent making the final table at every event. This strategy could really work: Earn money on the side, and stay consistent at the tables. Our opinion is, Chris is going to need a top 2 finish if he wants to secure a top spot.

Bizarro brews
We don’t know what they are drinking but Bobby H and Kevin M have taken their play to the next level. These two players typically sit at the bottom of the standings, but have been able to move up the ladder significantly this season. We hope to see a Cinderella story with one of these two finishing in the money for first time in their careers.

Suckout stout
Danny R. – This drunkard sucked out on Kevin last tournament with a K7 offsuit against AA. While he would call it genius play, the rest of the league has been throwing four-leaf clover and horseshoe references around like barstool prophets drinking Guinness in the rolling hills of some small town pub in Ireland. Needless to say, Danny has 1st and 2nd finishes and could throw a monkey wrench into anyone’s game with his unorthodox playing style.

Coors light
This applies to a bunch of players in the standings right now. A run-of-the-mill beer that everyone drinks. It doesn’t standout, there is an abundance of it, but it still has chance at being someone’s favourite beer. Possibly the tours. Are you a Coors Light? We’ll let you make that decision.

Tapped out
Last year’s champ is this year’s chump. Adam is trying to find a pair, a suit, or his keys. Nothing seems to be clicking with his play and if he doesn’t turn it around soon, he’ll go from poker threat to flash-in-the-pan. Let that sizzle in.

“Rye-tarded”
Mike L usually sits in the running for majority of the season, and loses out of the money at the end. Maybe it’s this rye swigging player’s new strategy: Start off awful, and hope to something holy his fortunes change.
