The latest scandal to unfold this week is not the bombshell in our nation’s capital but the utter debacle with league’s newly hot stamped chips.
BBPT attempted to take the league into the quasi-pro era with official cards, chips, and merchandise, but players were met with disappointment when they sat in their chairs on Saturday night.
First, newly printed BBPT shirts didn’t make it off the press, and secondly, the chips ordered didn’t impress. It appears that the chip counts for the new coloured chips were off, leaving one table red-faced with frustration.
Chip orderer Sean M., was faced with some hard questions once players realized the error that had happened. Sean tried his best to duck and dodge the umpteenth amount of questions he faced.
Flustered, he took his stance declaring, “I ordered the screen shot that Chris D sent me!”
“Why would you listen to anything Chris D says!?!” someone bellowed.
“Yeah, did you witness the hockey league debacle!?!” another chimed in.
Obviously overwhelmed and distracted, Sean M., tried to hold it together before losing out early on in the evening.
In and even more surprising move, the ironman player, took an early exit from the tournament all together. A first in his BBPT history.
Some speculated his departure was due to his embarrassment in handling the chip ordeal, while others went even further to suggest that he was leaving to cover his tracks to avoid blame in the days to follow. But this is all just hearsay and nothing at this moment can confirm is motives.
In the days after the event, details emerged that Sean M, indeed used a screen shot from Chris D, who did not have the correct chip denominations.
Phil E had sent out proper chip counts but one of these two players had made the mistake.
But who’s to blame? Chris D? Sean M?
In true gentleman fashion, Sean M, has taken sole responsibility for the scandal but many believe this act was only done to take some pressure off the lack of updates to the stats and standings for this year’s tour. Which brings up another intriguing question:
Has Sean M hit a wall? Is he burnt out? Could this explain his recent downfall on the tour? His lack of enthusiasm towards bbpoker.ca?
An unnamed source we’ll call A.H has suggested that “his time is too focused on a spinning cup for the website…If you want my opinion, he he should just flip it upside down”
We did not want his opinion and thought his suggestion was as stupid as trading for Julian Edleman the week Rob Gronkowski comes back from injury.
What will come of the #chipgate? A few suggestions have been proposed:
1. Order more chips
2. Wash the stamped chips with non-stamped chips
3. Change the colour and value of the chips
While each outcome has their negatives, one will ultimately have to be decided. What that will be is currently unknown.
We would suggest follow BBPT on twitter for the latest updates on this scandal, but we’re just not sure you’ll ever get a tweet.
I’m not going lie, i might take a dump with the door open, but i’m not going to lie. Denley clearly caused the chip issue. Probably because he couldn’t look into the guy’s eyes.
I am not a crook! I believe the league was DC’d!!
