The league with its cast of characters so unique and unpredictable allowed each season to give way to story lines so cherished they burn like glowing embers in the back of our minds.

Who could forget #armbandsfornapper? A classic sit-com moment that rumbled loud with the live studio audience. Or how about Salsa Jay? A Saved By The Bell-esque moment that had Chris D at crossroads with his close friend.

There were moments of sheer brilliance and MacGyver-ry like when Jeff F rigged a clock and a can of pop can to trick Chris D into drinking his beloved Pepsi before the end of their “year of no pop” bet.

There have even been mind-altering moments too. Like when Dabs were taking players by storm – and I’m not talking the Cam Newton celebration.

Then there were moments of pure cinematic brilliance. Television that was so raw the meat was fucking frozen – literally! The world watched (and never forgot) when two hosts didn’t host. It wasn’t an episode of Sanford & Son. It was a fucking episode of Survivor for every player in the room. No cut cheese or pizza. “Fend for yourself assholes, I’m not starving to death tonight!” That moment should have won a goddman Emmy.

But it hasn’t all been episode after episode of comedy and spectacle, there have been serious moments. The Law & Order style of #chipgate – a classic Chris D caught in the act moment. Or what about the Unsolved Mystery of the BBPT Cup curse? Some mocked it, and yet, they still haven’t won.

But those cerebral moments that brought us all together like a moon landing have fallen few and far between. Sure, they’ll always be interest in how many shits can Darren dole out in one tournament, or what else has Mitch bought with Pepsi points. But those episodes write them selves.

Once an exciting and evolving league – some may call progressive for its online & social presence. It’s lost touch – and any updates whatsoever – with its audience.

And the progressiveness it once had for improving play, tweaking rules to make it better has fallen by the wayside. It seems the league isn’t looking to improve at all. They’re more into turning into a police state. As the channel changes from Showtime to CNN, the political climate on the tour has changed its once cheery tune.

We are now ruled with an iron fist and what we say falls on deaf ears! Have you tried to reply to league email? The lines of communication have been cut. The show is being controlled and new ideas are not welcome.

Now, I know what some of you are thinking. Woah!? That’s a little extreme, don’t you think? There’s still fun times in the league. One might even argue, the rivalry of Bad Boys vs. Ryetards has provided hours of entertainment. But this writer wouldn’t classify that more like Bon Cop/Bad Cop vs Red Green – a small audience finds it amusing.

Ratings are down, friends. So, break out the Jon Dalys, the rye, the mother fuckin’ Amaretto & Coke. We need to bring back life into the tour. Cause we’re tired of watching reruns – except that episode where Brian’s pocket aces lose on the river. That shit never gets old.

As we enter the 9th season of the BBPT tour, the show has come to a crossroads and has left many wondering: has it jumped the shark?
